Film Outfitting and Location Base Camps in Kenya

Kenya is a favourite location for wildlife documentaries, feature films, commercials and music videos, but great locations are often far from hotels. Kifaru Kampers provides film outfitting in Kenya: we build and run the base camp that keeps your cast and crew sheltered, fed, rested and on schedule, from a one-day commercial shoot to a months-long documentary.

What we outfit for productions

  • Crew accommodation: sleeping tents for every crew member, with camp cots, mattresses and sleeping bags.
  • Production and holding areas: gazebos and dining shelters for production offices, video village, make-up, wardrobe and talent holding.
  • Catering: a portable camping kitchen, dining shelters, tables, camp chairs and mega coolers.
  • Welfare: shower tents with shower sacs and toilet tents with dry toilet seats for remote locations.
  • Lighting and weather cover: lanterns for camp areas, and gazebos for shade and rain protection for crew and equipment.

Wildlife documentary and remote location camps

Wildlife and natural-history crews often spend weeks in conservancies and national parks. We set up comfortable mobile camps close to the action, then move or resupply them as the shoot moves on.

Commercial shoots, music videos and day sets

For shorter shoots around Nairobi and the Rift Valley, we supply shade gazebos, chairs, tables and holding tents for the day. We set up before call time and clear the site after wrap.

Why productions choose Kifaru Kampers as their outfitter

  • Experience: Nairobi-based camping outfitters since 2014.
  • One supplier: sleeping, catering, welfare and shelter from one company.
  • Logistics: transport, setup and dismantling by our own team.
  • Scalable: from a small documentary unit to a large production base camp.

Planning tips for filming camps in Kenya

  • Schedule around the long rains (March–May) and short rains (October–December). If you must shoot then, ask for waterproof tents and extra shelter.
  • Get your filming licence and any park, county or conservancy permissions confirmed before the camp is booked.
  • Share your call sheet and crew numbers early so we can size the tents, catering and welfare facilities correctly.
  • Remote sites need a plan for water, fuel and waste. Let us know what is available on site.
